About the School

Roxbury Prep High School is a free, public high school serving approximately 800 students across two campuses. The Lower School (9-10 grades) is located in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston, and the Upper School (11-12 grades) is located in Roxbury. We prepare each student to enter, succeed in, and graduate from college by developing within them extraordinary academic skills, a life-long passion for learning, and the values that define strong character. Students graduating from one of Roxbury Prep’s middle school campuses, and students drawn from a lottery have the opportunity to attend RPHS.

Roxbury Prep's Mission is to prepare students to enter, succeed in and graduate from college. Roxbury Prep is founded on the philosophy that all students are entitled to and can succeed in college preparatory programs when: 1) the curriculum is rigorous, engaging, and well-planned; 2) the school emphasizes student character, community responsibility, and exposure to life's possibilities; and 3) a community network supports student academic, social, and physical well-being. We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and alumni, including the 9 alumni who have come back to Roxbury Prep to teach.

School Performance

Student performance data displayed below is from Next Generation MCAS results. For more data on schools, please visit the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) website. For schools with multiple campuses, the data below represents all schools in that network, not just the single school, unless otherwise noted. If data is not shown, it is not available for that school (e.g. the school might not serve any tested grades, or be too small to publicly release its scores).

IMPORTANT NOTE: DESE did not issue school, district, or state accountability determinations for the 2019-2020 school year due to the cancellation of state assessments and school closures related to COVID-19. As a result, there is no student performance data available from the state for school year 2019-2020.
